Before your shift
You’ve picked up a shift. That’s awesome! Here are some of our top tips for having a successful shift.
Check out the details. All details about the shift including responsibilities, uniform, and even the name of the shift manager are available when you sign up for a shift.
Read the description. Every now and then, there might be special requirements for a shift, like age requirement, ability to lift a certain weight, or details on where to park. Make sure to read the description so you're prepared!
Dress the part. In the details, you'll be informed on what to wear to your shift. If you are ever unsure if something will work, please reach out to your engagement manager or the shift manager PRIOR to your shift to confirm.
Things happen. If you drop the shift at least 48 hours before your shift is scheduled to start, you won’t be penalized.
However, if you need to drop the shift within 48 hours of the shift start time, you’ll earn one strike on your account.
If you need to drop a shift:
Log into work.snag.co and go to Your Upcoming Shifts
Select Details on the shift you need to drop.
Click Drop this Shift to cancel the shift.
Even if you have 2 strikes on your account, always drop a shift before the start time if you cannot attend. An engagement manager will review the account and remove strikes if deemed appropriate. Not dropping the shift prevents other Shifts workers from having an opportunity to claim and fulfill the business’s request. Not dropping the shift will also result in a "No show" status for you, which will make you ineligible to continue working for Shifts.
As part of the Shifts community, we expect you to act with respect and consideration for the businesses and workers in our network. Please make sure to give enough notice for everyone involved.
You were hired to work at Shifts because we believe you possess the qualities to succeed and do some great work for businesses.
Here are the keys to working a successful shift:
Be on time. Get started on the right foot by showing up on time, every time. If possible, try to hit the sweet spot of arriving 10-15 minutes early so you have time to park, put your stuff away, and meet your manager and team.
Meet the manager. When you get to your shift, ask to speak with the manager on duty so you can introduce yourself. Their name will be in the shift details. They may give you additional instructions to get your shift started.
Be positive and proactive. Bring a “can do” attitude and treat your team and guests of the business with respect. Always ask what else you can do, or pitch in where the team needs your assistance.
Being late will result in one strike on your account. If you fail to try to inform the business, you will earn another strike.
Make sure to follow these steps to avoid additional penalty:
Immediately call the manager on duty during the shift (information will be in shift details), and inform them you are running late. If no one answers, try calling the business directly.
If you still can’t get a response from the business, text the Shifts team at (855) 317-9649 or call us at (888) 762-7624 to let us know you are running late.
If the manager asks you not to come in, you will not be paid for the shift and will still receive one strike for being late.
Even if you have 2 strikes on your account, always drop a shift before the start time if you cannot go. You can reach out to support and submit a case explaining your situation, and it will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Not dropping the shift prevents other Shifts workers from having an opportunity to claim and fulfill the business’s request, and will reflect negatively on your record.
Businesses that post shifts may cancel shifts up to 24 hours before a shift’s start time. When a shift is canceled within this time frame, you will not be paid.
However, if a Shifts Business Partner cancels a shift 24 hours or less before a shift’s start time, you will be paid for that shift, depending on when it was canceled (see below). We appreciate your commitment to Shifts by Snagajob, and want to respect the time you’ve set aside for your shifts.
Payment is calculated as follows:
50% of the expected shift payment if your shift is canceled within 24 hours to 2 hours before the shift start time.
100% of the expected shift payment if your shift is canceled within 2 hours of the shift start time.
Please do not work any shift if:
